The upcoming season of the WePlay Academy League will be the biggest one to date, spanning four weeks from May to June.
The fourth season of WePlay's Academy League has been announced, and for the first time will see the participation of 14 different organizations. The $100,000 tournament to showcase up-and-coming talent will feature the addition of four new organizations' academy teams, with OG Academy, PROSPECTS, Apeks Rebels, and Young Gods added to the list.
Teams will partake in two round-robin groups of seven, with the best team of each group directly qualifying to the play-offs and the second to sixth seeded squads to face a gauntlet-style ladder. The top teams of each gauntlet will qualify to the play-off stage, where a double elimination format will be followed.
Out of the 14 teams, all eyes will certainly be on MOUZ NXT, who have won all three of the previous seasons of the Academy League. Despite their dominance in the competition, it will be interesting to see how they perform without Jon "JDC" de Castro, who was recently signed to MOUZ's main roster, with Jimi "Jimpphat" Salo stepping up in his place.
The full list of teams competing are as follows:
